Dr. Blackard is a graduate of Duke University. He received his MD from the Medical College of Virginia and then completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). He remained at UAB to complete a three year fellowship in gastroenterology. While at UAB, he also obtained a Masters in Public Health.
